Revision Tasks

Below are a number of suggestions of tasks that you could complete to compliment your own personal revision techniques.

Question 1 Revision

Watch a superhero film that you haven't seen already. Mind map the key themes that are presented throughout the film.

Question 1 Revision

Pick a 4 minute key scene from a superhero movie and produce a SMEC grid for the scene. Make sure that you are only watching the scene 3 times and making notes using technical terms.

Question 1 Revision

Look at the example question 1 in the 'Exam' section of the website. Using the SMEC grid you have just completed complete question 1 imagining that the scene you watched was the extract.

Question 2 Revision

Question 3 Revision

Make a mind map of all the different themes and conventions you can think of in the superhero films you have seen. On your mind map, add details about the different films the themes are presented in and how they may influence an audiences engagement with the film.

Revise all of the different types of promotional techniques films have used to make sure their product is sold effectively. Make notes on how each of the different promotional techniques engages an audience. Find examples from superhero films to back up your explanations.

Question 4 Revision

Probably the hardest question to revise for. All you can do is practice your speed sketching using the past questions that we have completed. Come up with an original name for a superhero film and design a DVD cover, promotional poster, website homepage and some merchandise for the film. Make sure that you spend no more than 17 minutes on your sketching and colouring.
